“In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.” – PROVERBS 16:6
Devotion
When we are forgiven of our sins, we are brought to the foot of the cross at Calvary where we are reminded of the significance of Jesus’ atoning death. Fearing God will bring us into a deeper understanding of the sacrificial act of the Lamb of God (1 Pet 1:15-19). By this fear, we will fully comprehend the full nature of our God (Prov 8:13); where on the cross His hatred for sin was covered by His desire to show unmerited mercy, such that we who were once sinners might see salvation. How intimately do you know your God? Are you able to really comprehend the essence of
Jeremiah 9:24, that He delights in exercising lovingkindness? And once we understand His mercifulness, if we want to be in the company of this merciful God, we too must show mercy to the misgivings of our brethren (Amos 3:3; Matt 5:7).
