“But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” – MATTHEW 5:28
Devotion
Pornography is a vice. It is a closet addiction. It is a work of the flesh (Gal 5:19-21) trying to ensnare and capture you in its clutches. Lascivious is an evil eye that lusts after this wickedness (Mark 7:22; Gal 5:19; 1 Pet 4:3). A hardness of the heart will also breed this wayward habit (Eph 4:17-19). If you are ever ensnared, you need to follow these ten steps to recover from pornography:
1) Be transparent and acknowledge that this addiction exists in you (Prov 28:13).
2) Be humble and recognise that what you are doing is fully wrong in God’s sight (1 John 2:16).
3) Stop finding excuses or blaming others for your lustful desires. (Rom 1:20-29)
4) Be accountable and transparent, reporting it to a spiritual authority (James 5:16).
5) Be courageous to face the issue and take full responsibility to resolve the dilemma. (Ps 32:5)
6) Embark on a journey of studying and meditating on the scriptures concerning sexual purity (James 1:21).
7) Immediately dispose of any pornography material in your possession. Abstain from internet addiction. (Deut 7:26)
8) Learn to be ever vigilant and to flee from sexual temptation at first sight (Prov 5:5-8; 2 Tim 2:22).
9) Regulate your desires with bouts of fasting and praying so as to gain spiritual strength to work through the arduous, rehabilitative process of crucifying your flesh. (Rom 8:13)
10) Maintain daily vigilance as a watchman and shun away from every form of evil (1 Thess 5:22).
